SCRAP METAL BLOCK PALLETIZING
Flexicell designs palletizing systems for unusual products such as scrap metal blocks. Formed of discarded soft drink cans, these aluminum blocks varied in weight, size, and dimension. The challenge was to create a system flexible enough to handle difficult palletizing stacking configurations on the fly.
Pallet stability and weight had to be considered as this system was created. With varying block weights and sizes, the computer had to compute the correct stacking configuration for each aluminum block as it arrived at the palletizing station. Once all blocks were scanned, the robot then palletized the load accordingly.
